Interactive Gaming Council Board Meeting – I-Gaming Legal status
par Verbiest Thibault
On 6 November the European Court of Justice made public its decision in the Gambelli case, the first case concerning remote gaming submitted to its jurisdiction.
Since then, the debate between the different parties has been very animated for a number of reasons. In the first place, one must recognize that the Gambelli decision self can give rise to different interpretations. In the second place, the European Commission has heated the debate and stated that “online gambling is a new area in which action may be required because of significant Internal Market problems”.
